Luce d’Acqua

La prima suggestione viene dalla luce: solo al mare o dove si trova molta acqua, si possano creare condizioni di luce che generano contrasti e colori particolari. Condizioni che per me si accentuano quando la luce e’ diffusa, magari filtrata da strati di nuvole che a loro volta, in qualche modo, caricano ancora di piu’ l’atmosfera di acqua.

La seconda suggestione e’ data dalle linee: gli spazi ampi e la presenza cosante dell’orizzone marino invitano a riflettere e hanno il potere di suggerire geometrie fisiche e percorsi mentali che raramente trovo in altri luoghi.

Le due suggestioni danno spesso origine a un’atmosfera sospesa, in qualche modo magica: qualcosa potrebbe accadere, in un tempo indefinito. Si verifica soprattutto nelle stagioni in cui i litorali sono meno affollati e le persone, quando compaiono, sono presenze fugaci, quasi effimere.

Sono le due suggestioni che mi spingono a registrare quello che vedo fuori e forse a esprimere quello che sento dentro.

Da sempre il paesaggio marino ha svolto un ruolo importante per me. Le immagini che presento sono state scattate tra Liguria e alta Toscana, quel tratto di costa tirrenica che frequento regolarmente e che sento particolarmente vicino alle mie esperienze di vita e al mio mondo interiore.

Water Light

This series of images tries to express two suggestions that I often feel in seaside places.

The first suggestion comes from the light: only at the seaside or where there is a lot of water, particular light conditions can be created which generate special contrasts and colours. Conditions that for me are increased when the light is diffused, perhaps filtered by layers of clouds which in turn, in some way, fill even more the atmosphere with water.

The second suggestion is given by the lines: the large spaces and the constant presence of the sea horizon invite reflection and have the power to suggest physical geometries and mental paths that I rarely find in other places.

The two suggestions often give rise to a suspended, somewhat magical atmosphere: something could happen in an indefinite time. Especially in the seasons when the coasts are less crowded and people, when they appear, are fleeting, almost ephemeral presences.

These are the two suggestions that push me to record what I see outside and perhaps to express what I feel inside.

The seascape has always played an important role for me. The images I present were taken between Liguria and upper Tuscany, that stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast that I regularly frequent and that I feel particularly close to my life experiences and my inner world.
